Maryland Toleration act
This act is essentially for religious tolerance make specifically trinitarian christians. This began a push towards religious liberty and this act includes the phrase “free excrcise thereof” religion, which made way for the first amendment.

Carolina started as a small conglomeration of tobacco and rice farms. Slavery was very prominent here as africans made up most of the population. Charleston served as a very important post for trading.

Pennsylvania founded by william penn. Who used his social status and wealth to protect his fellow quakers, pennsylvania was creased to give tolerance. The first law which was freedom of conscience is a perfect summation of the cornerstone of penn’s beliefs.

Salem witch trials
Fall 1692
In salem massachusetts 150 people were imprisoned for witchcraft 7 died in prison 19 men and women were found guilty. Ended in september 1694 with public opinion turning against the trials.

Salutary neglect
As long as the colonies were loyal Britain’s and it’s rule. Britain would have very reasonable rules and regulations for stuff to the effect of taxes and trade. This led to the separation of the two, as the colonies believed that they were not being treated fairly.
