The leader of the Roanoke Colony went to England for supplies but upon his return he found that his colony and all the people in it were missing. In the side of a tree nearby the word CROATAN from the Croatan Indians. Did they go and live with Indians? Were they killed by the Indians? Who knows.

Jamestown

Lord Baltimore who was catholic settled this area as a safe haven for all persecuted Catholics. Maryland was a proprietary colony, which meant the owner of the colony ruled, not the king or queen.

Rhode Island
Rodger Williams was banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony because he spoke out against government authorities. He then founded the colony of Rhode Island and there was no religious persecution of Christians there.

When the Virginians got upset that the Governor was giving the best land to his personal Friends they started a violent rebellion led by Nathaniel Bacon that was the considered the first act of rebellion in the new world

Pennslyvania
William Penn founded Pennsylvania as royal colony and settled the colony as a "Holy Experiment,".. Penn granted this place as a land for Quakers to settle. They were labeled as simplistic because of their speech, clothing, anti-slavery beliefs and they were Pacifists.

Salem witch trials
The Salem witch trials where a spell of mass hysteria where local girls claimed to be possessed by the devil and incriminated other wives and women that they didn't like to be witches. This caused 150 people to be imprisoned with 19 men and woman being hung or drowned

The British sent this to the colonies at the end of the French & Indian war to appease the Native Americans. It made a boundary separating the British colonies from American Indian lands.
