  • Bacon's Rebellion

    Bacon's Rebellion
    William Berkeley, the governor of Virginia, passed a law that allowed the natives to stay in the colonial lands. This enraged a planter named Nathaniel Bacon, who gathered some settlers and planned against Berkeley. Bacon rebelled by attacking the native tribe of Pamunkey, then by storming Jamestown and burning the land.

Lasted from the 1690's to the 1760's and benefited the colonists boosting their profits from trade. Established Triangular Trade: trading goods they had an abundance of for goods they were lacking. Was reversed to raise taxes to pay for massive war debt.

    A group of young girls in Salem Village, Massachusetts claimed to be possessed by the devil and many were accused of witchcraft. A special court met in Salem to discuss these accusations. The witches would be hanged, pressed to death with stones, or sent to jail to die.
