Queen Elizabeth I coronated.

The Spanish Armada attacks.
In the months of July and August of 1588, the Spanish Armada descended upon England in hope of overthrowing the new Protestant government. This failed terribly due to English agile ships and stormy seas. -
The Battle of Acoma (The Acoma Massacre)
After the Spanish conquistador Zaldivar was killed by Acome Pueblos when infringing upon their lands, his brother and 70 men massacred the village of Acoma. -
The Treaty of London signed.
Ending the war between the English and the Spanish, the Treaty of London was signed in 1604 by Kings James I of England and Phillip III of Spain. -
Jamestown established.
The first English colony was established in 1607 at Jamestown by the James River in Virginia. This colony was an utter failure. The colonists refused to hunt nor fish because they were "gentlemen." They instead looked for gold and ended up perishing due to lack of food and abundance of mosquitos and pestilence. -
The First Anglo-Powhatan War began.
The 1st Anglo-Powhatan War began in 1607 when the first settlers of Jamestown came to establish a colony in Virginia. This war was a result of the extreme dislike between Native Americans and the invading European explorers. -
Virginia House of Burgesses established.
Colonists wanted representation in the new colonies. Virginia created a place where locals could have their say in government. -
Virginia becomes a colony to the Crown of England.
The Virginia Company's rights to the land were revoked and given to the royalty of England, to be a royal colony. -
Maryland founded.
Lord Baltimore founded the colony of Maryland under the permission and rule of King Charles I. This colony became a haven for Catholics fleeing from Protestant persecution in England. -
Oliver Cromwell takes over.
Oliver Cromwell overthrew the British monarchy and had King Charles I beheaded. His reign only lasted until Charles II took back the throne. -
Act of Toleration adopted.
In the colony of Maryland, the Act of Toleration was adopted for all Christian religions to be freed from persecution in the colony. -
Charles II becomes king.

Pennsylvania colony established.
William Penn was given the rights to establish a new colony by the name of Pennsylvania. Later, this colony would be the site of many important parts of the French-Indian War and the American Revolution. -
The Carolinas split.
The Carolinas were once one colony given to eight lords for helping the new king, Charles, ascend to the throne. In 1712, they were split. (The exact day of the split was unknown; however, it was in 1712.) -

Sometime in the year 1715, the Yamasee War began between settlers in South Carolina and the Yamasee Tribe. -
Georgia founded.
The last colony Georgia was founded in 1733 by General James Oglethorpe, under the direction of King George II.
