He demanded the removal of the missiles. He ordered a naval blockade. But no one knew how Nitkita Khrushchev would respond to the blockades.

    On November 22nd Americans loved thier young president John F. Kennedy, on that day he was assianated by Lee Harvey Oswald while riding a motorcade through Dallas Texas. After the first shot was fired in his throat, a second shot was fired that missed, the last shot hit him in the head and killed him. His wife reached back to grab a part of his brain after the last shot that hit his head. Two days later Lee Harvey Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby during a prisoner transfer.

    The Detriot Riot started when police officers exceuted a raid. They were expecting to round up 2 patrons but instead they found 82 peole inside holding a party. As the police officers waited for the clean up crew the rest of the peopl came in to protest. A Riot started. At the end of 5 days there were 43 dead, 1189 injured and over 7000 people had been arrested.

    On April 4th, 1968, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was hit by a snipers bullet. Martin was standing on his balcony in Tennesee when he was shot by a .30-caliber. The bullet entered kings right cheek, travled through his neck and stopped at his shoulder blade. King was taken to the hospital immediatley and was pronouced dead at 7:05 p.m. Violence followed after that with blacks taking the streets with massive wave of riots. James Earl Ray was taken in but many belive he was innocent.

    Early in the morning eight members of the Palestian terriost organization snuck into the Olympic village at the XXth Olympic Games in Germany. They raided the building house of the Israely athletes. Two Israely athletes were killed during the raid and nine others were taken hostage. During the rescue a shoot out was taken place and all nine hostages were killed during it, and five of the Black September members were killed.

    Singer Elvis Presley was found dead at his home in Graceland in Memphis. His body was found by his girlfreind Ginger Alden in the up stairs bathroom. All efforts to revive Elvis were futile. Elvis had probaly been dead for hours before his body was found. Elvis was pronouced dead at 3:30pm by his physician George Nichopoulos.

    Peoples Temple cult leader Jim Jones instructed his followers to commit suicide by drinking cyanide-laced fruit punch. At the Jonestown compound in Guyana 912 members who drank the punch died. 276 of them were children. Jim Jones was killed the same day by a gunshot to the head.

    In 1979 three mile island nuclear power plant in USA a cooling malfunction caused a part to melt in the reactor. Some radioactive gas was released a couple of days after the accident, but not enough to do anything to the residents. There were no injurys or health issues from the Three mile island accident. The three mile island power station was located in Harrisburg Pennsylvania.

    On March 30, 1981, 25 year old John Hinckley Jr. opened fire on the president Ronald Reagan outside of the Hilton Hotel. He was hit by one bullet which punctured his lung. Three others were also wounded during the shooting. There was a total of 6 shots fired with Hinckleys .22 caliber pistol. The secret service didnt think that he would need a bullet proof vest.

    President Reagan appointed Sandra Day O Conner to be the first women on the US Supreme Court. Sandra was officaly sworm in and took her seat on the US Supreme Court on September 25, 1981.

    At 11.38 am on Tuesday the Space Shuttle Challenger launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Challenger took off and 73 seconds later the air craft exploded in mid air. All seven members of the crew died in the disaster. When they did a investigation they found out the o rings of the right solid rocket booster had malfuncted.

The boys planned on killing hundreds during the killing spree and didnt have succeed in killing large numbers because the bombs didnt explode.     It was a scream that people noticed. Richard Reid is known as the shoe bomber. He attempted to detonate explosives packed into the shoe he was wearing. He tried to set it off on the flight 63 from Paris to Miami. Reid pleaded guilty in U.S federal court to eight crimes of terrorism. He was sentenced to prison without parole.

Two plans were highjacked and were flown to the World Trade Center where they were hit by the planes. 2,996 people were left dead after this attack. A third plane hit the pentagon which killed 125 people and a fourth plane was wrecked in a field. A total of 19 highjackers were killed.

    The Iraq war started March 20 2003 by an invasion force led by the United States. Iraq was thought to have weapons of mass destruction which posed a threat to our security. Some officials accused Osama Bin Lain the Iraq president of harboring and supporting Al Qaeda, but no evidence was ever found. That started a war. On October 21 president Barak Obama announced all troops to be sent home.

    In 2004 the Indian Ocean earthquake occurred. The earth quake was caused by the Indian plates was subducted by the Burma Plate and triggered a series of devastating tsumnis around the coast. The earthquake killed over 230,000 people in 14 countries, which is one of the deadliest disasters in recorded history. Indonesia was the hardest hit by it. The earth quake had the longest duration of faulting ever observed. It lasted between 8 to 10 minutes. It even triggered Alaska earthquakes.
