  • Brown vs Board of Education

    Oliver Brown asked a local school board to let his daughter attend the all white school as it was much closer than the segregated school. After they declined, Oliver got help from NAACP to file a lawsuit in the supreme court with Thurgood Marshall as the 14th amendment was broken. This case overturned the Plessy vs Ferguson case and desegregated schools around the United States with the enforcement of the military.
  • Elvis Presley

    Elvis Presley was one of the most popular rock n' roll singers between 1956 and 1973. He became popular because he had made an appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. Also during his music career he had published 94 gold singles, 40 gold albums, and starred in 33 films. Elvis also gave out lots of money to charities and other people, and even strangers. Elvis had a large effect on society as he was one of the most loved and well known people of his time, and was one of the best musicians.
  • Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall as a wall created between east and west Berlin after the city was divided by Russia and France, Britain, and the united states. When citizens living in Berlin found out that the east side was becoming communist 3 million people fled east Berlin to the west. This embarrassed the USSR, and so they built a wall around all of east Berlin. Anyone who tried to cross was shot on sight. The wall also had a big effect of politics and society as the wall became a symbol of the cold war.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Cuban missile crisis was caused by the soviets building nuclear launch facilities in Cuba with nuclear missiles aimed at the USA. JFK had informed Americans of the missiles and this caused some panic among citizens. In the end Russia took their nukes out of Cuba and the US took theirs out of turkey. In result of all of the panic two treaties were signed regarding nuclear weapons this ended up being a political and social victory, as people now felt more safe
  • Martin Luther King jr. assassination

    MLK was a civil activist and most populariy know for giving his I have a dream speech. MLK had fought all his life for equality and had overcome many hardships to achieve his dream. However MLK was killed shortly after he had achieved his dream of ending segregation. His death had a huge impact on society as many people looked up to him and saw him as a role model and when he died many were in shock. Also this had an effect on politics as the biggest civil rights speaker was killed.

  • Moon Landing

    Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins step into the Apollo 11 and .launch with millions watching. 3 days later the astronauts were in the lunar orbit around the moon. A day later Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong head for the moon, and when Neil takes his first step he says ¨one step for man, one giant leap for mankind¨. The moon land had a huge effect on society as it caused way more people to be interested into space. Also had an effect on politics as america hadbeatenthesovietstospace
  • Watergate Scandal

    A burglary happened in Washington DC where 5 men broke into the democratic HQ, they were then caught because the door was left ajar. Later people found out that these 5 men had a connection with Nixon. Nixon later denied any ties with the burglars and even stating ¨I am not a crook¨. However Nixon had secret tapes of him talking about Watergate and basically confirming he had something to do with it. In July 1974 Nixon was impeached, but he resigned before he went to trial.
  • Bill Clinton

    Bill Clinton is the 42nd president of the USA, and worked on solving America´s debt. As a matter of fact during his presidency the USA´s debt at the time was zero and he sent 20,000 troops to Bosnia on behave of NATO peace keeping efforts. He also started a health care reform. Bill was also the second president put on trial. Bill had an effect on society because he was able to get america´s debt by raising taxes. This also had a huge affect on the economy because of the high taxes.
  • George W. Bush

    George W. Bush was president during the 9/11 attacks, he was also a republican. Before he was the president, Bush was the governor of Texas, and he started the war on terror movement. Bush introduced a tax relief and the no child left behind act. Bush had a impact on the economy because the tax relief caused prices to go down, and Bush had a impact on society with the no child left behind act as more and more children were being brought off the streets and into loving homes.
  • 9/11 attacks

    On September 11th 2001 two airliners were hijacked and crashed into the twin towers and one airliner in the pentagon and another in a field. Saddam Hussein had taken credit for the atrocity, and during the time George W. Bush was in Florida reading to kindergartners. 9/11 had an affect on society as nearly 3000 people died overall and many more injured. However 9/11 also had an effect on the economy due to all of the damages created.
  • Barack Obama Inauguration

    Barack Obama is the first African American president of the united states of america, and during his inauguration millions of people watched on the TV and there was over 1 million attendees making this one of the most globally observed events in history. This had a major effect on politics as America got their first African American president, and Obama´s Inauguration had an affect on society because this was a inspiring event for many African Americans.
