Baby Boom
From 1945 to 1954, the birthrate of the U.S. increased tremendously because many made up for lost time from the Great Depression and WWII. The population grew from 9 million in the 1930s to 29 million in the 1950s. It was important because health care improved for children and pregnant women, but it was also either too expensive or too difficult with single parent families. However, the impact of this was that the population grew at a very quick rate in a short amount of time. -

Man on the Moon
On July 20, 1969 at 4:17 p.m., Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Micheal Collins piloted Apollo 11. 600 million television viewers around the world watched this historic event. Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon at 10:56 pm. He described the moon like it was powdered charcoal and that the landing craft left a crater about a foot deep. The impact was that an American flag was planted on the moon's surface and that the U.S. was the first on the moon. -
Gerald Ford
Gerald Ford was the President of the United States from 1974-1976. Before being elected, he was a congressman of Michigan for 25 years. He is a Republican and the main event and impact of his presidency was when he pardoned Richard Nixon when he resigned from office. Other events he was responsible for was starting trade with the Soviet Union and being part of the Warren Commission. Two facts about Ford was that he was a model and had two assassination attempts. Both failed. -

Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton was a U.S. President from 1992-2000. Before being elected as President, he was the Governor of Arkansas. He is a Democrat and his biggest impact while in office was that he lowered the U.S. deficit to 0. Other important events include the Test Ban Treaty, sending 20,000 troops to Bosnia and the Health Care reform. A fun fact about Clinton is that he plays the saxophone and loves music. -

Barack Obama Inauguration
The Inauguration of Barack Obama took place in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009. To watch the inauguration, tickets went from $1,750 to $20,000. The importance to this was that over one million people attended this and many more watched from the internet or television. This also had a huge impact on the United States due to Barack Obama being the very first African American U.S. President. During this, Michelle Obama held the Bible, which was used by Abraham Lincoln's inauguration.
