Berlin Blockade / Airlift
The Berlin Airlift occured at the end of the Second World War. The U.S., British, and Soviet military forces divided and occupied Germany. Also divided into occupation zones, Berlin was located far inside Soviet-controlled eastern Germany. People and children starved. -
Korean War
The Korean War began when the North Korean Communist army crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded non-Communist South Korea. It was important because it split Korea into two sountries. -
Vietnam War
The North Vietnamese government and the Viet Cong were fighting to reunify Vietnam under communist rule. It was important because it was the longest war fought by the Americans. -

It was launched into orbit on October 4, 1957. It was imortant because it was the first artificial satellite successfully launched into space. -

It was a failed invasion of Cuba. It was important because the effects are still occuring today. -
The Creation of the Berlin Wall
The wall was built by the Eastern German authorities abd completely encircled West Berlin. It was important because it split apart families and prevented people from going to their jobs and other opportunities in the West. -

It was a 13-day confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union concerning Soviet ballistic missiles deployment in Cuba. Its important because this is the only actual "hot war" during the cold war. -
The Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
This was when the Soviet Uniion invaded Afghanistan. It was important because this war lasted over nine years. -
Gorbachev's Reforms Glasnost and Perestroika
It was when the Soviet Union was engulfed with problems. This was inportant because the Soviet's economy was falling apart. -
The Fall of the Berlin Wall
This was when the Berlin Wall was finally tajen down and people could enter West Berlin for the first time in many many years.
