    This is when Japan surrendered unconditionally resulting in a final end to World War Two, Following the Yalta convention and the creation of the United Nations, Which would replace the formerly fallen League of Nations.

    The Berlin Airlift was the UK and the US foreign aid of Germany. This was done because the soviets were trying to starve west Germany. The Berlin Airlift took place from June 24th to June 28th.
  • NATO is founded

    On April Fourth, 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is founded by Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, The United Kingdom, and the United States. NATO was created in order to counter soviet power across Europe.

    On the 29th of August, 1949, the Soviet Union tests its first successful atomic bomb. This caused the red scare to reach a peak in America and also resulted in Russia becoming the worlds second Nuclear Power.

This brought both nations to the brink of Nuclear War, But ultimately resulted in a treaty in which both countries agreed not to attack each other and to withdraw their nuclear warheads from their vantage points.

    On March 8th, 1965, America started to carpet bomb northern Vietnamese cities and factories, With many US forces built up in South Vietnam. This was the beginning of a strenuous effort to stop the spread of Communism.

    On January 7th, 1973, The Paris peace accords occurred in Paris, France. Here gathered American representatives met with North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese representatives where they agreed on ending the war in Vietnam and Congress ended funding for the bombing of Indochina.

    On April 30th, North Vietnamese forces won the war against the now unsupported Southern forces, Breaking their agreement.

    On December 8th, 1987, The Intermediate-range Nuclear Treaty is signed by US president Ronald Reagan and a Soviet Leader. This was the official end of the Cold War.
