    The Potsdam Confrence
    The potsdam conference was a meeting between Great Britain (GB), the United States (US), and the Soviet Union (USSR). It was brought together to create a long lasting plan of action between the Allied Countries, and how to prevent germany from starting a third war. Potsdam was also gathered to find solutions to restore the government of countries whose government was overthrown by the German forces during WW2 and needed to recuperate.

    The long lasting effects of the Potsdam Conference was that there was now an even division between the 4 occupied zones of Germany. The allies were now able to take reparation payment from european nations that caused the Allies harm in battle. This was the last conference where the US and the USSR were at peace, out of wartime, and not in competition for Scientific and Military achievements.

    The Creation of NATO

    NATO, or the National Atlantic Treaty Organization was a common bond between much of the allied countries, and almost all western european countries that wanted to maintain a military and financial/economic alliance between each other. NATO was formed because the allied countries wanted an organized way to make advanced military plans, and form joint forces.

    It also eased tension between each other. NATO was a very positive creation to this day, it increased positive military relations between countries, and allowed them to think as one.

    The Korean war was a conflict between the Korean people, being divided into a Communist North, and a semi democratic south. This conflict started on June 25, 1950. The united nations, and the United States decided to intervene so they could stop the onset of communism. The Korean war happened because the North wanted to advance korea to a fully communist nation, but the US and 15 other countries were sent with troops. .

    The warsaw pact was a Union between the countries forming the Axis powers in WW2, and the Nations who supported the USSR. What happened was that the countries needed a single power able to dictate the spread of communism, and to have a combined military force, making it easier to enforce the Govt. in power.

    The Vietnam War was a conflict in vietnam over the spread of a communist government into the southern vietnamese area, which was a democratic nation. It happened in South-East asia, and involved the UN, the United states, and some European nations. What Happened was that there was a long lasting (15 Year) conflict over stopping the advancement of communism, and the country was divided in 2 parts.

    This happened because North vietnam was converted to communism, and under the truman doctrine the US stepped in to combat the spread into democratic south vietnam. The lasting effect of the vietnam war was an immense loss of life, 1.35 million total soldiers were killed, and more than 2 million civilians killed, and the north and south both became communist

    The Space Race was a military and aeronautical competition between the USSR and the United States, having a sort of back and forth launch of rockets, men, and other spacecraft. What happened was that Russia and the US were in a competition after Russia had successfully launched a satellite into orbit between 1956 and 1960. This event happened because of friendly agreement to have Communications satellites in orbit for use and to have a solid way of ICBM development.

    In the End, the middle eastern leader, Nasser came out from the conflict victorious and continued the communist leadership in the area. Israel regained the shipping routes that it used previously and the conflict was resolved.

    The Suez Crisis was a combined act from the US, Middle east, and Great Britain. What happened was that the Middle eastern cut off connections to the Suez Dam. They were provoked by the decision not to finance the high dam, which forced the country to enforce Martial Law. The Suez Crisis was provoked by opposing military ideals, and a difference in political systems, which are a contesting battle between communism and Democratic Leadership.

    Overall, this tense issue was resolved with a peaceful agreement between the 2 conflicting countries, and there was only 1 confirmed casualty out of the whole conflict, averting a complete nuclear war.

    The cuban missile crisis was an event where the US discovered hidden missiles along the Cuban Coastline and caused a 13 day political standoff of extremely high tension between the 2 countries. This happened because of the United States, and Russia’s opposing political ideals that caused the clash to happen. This happened also because 2 superpowers were weary of each other’s increased strike capability.
