Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was created to stop the spread of communsim. The Truman doctrine stated that any country that is beng effected by communism the United States were going to help them. -
NATO
Nato was formed to try and stop another world war from occuring. It was formed on April 4, 1949. The main goal of NATO was to stop the spread of comunism and help countries effected by communsim. -
Chinese Civil War
The Chinese war was a war that occured because of disagreements in the government. The war was fought by the Communist and Nao Zedong vs. The natiionalists and Chiang-Kai-Shek. It ended in a communist victory in 1950. -
World Powers during the Cold War
The world powers during the cold war were USA and NATO. Both of those were capitalist and wanted to contain the spread of communsim. The other powers were the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. They wanted to spread communism. -
Korean War
The Korean war was a conflict between the communists of the north and the capitalists of the south. It ended in a seize fire between both sides. The USA supported the southern side during the war. -
USSR Spreading Communism
USSR at the start of the cold war wanted to spread communism all over eastern Europe. Eastern Europe was occupied by the USSR and eastern Berlin was also occupied by USSR. The USSR also controlled puppet states that they made communist. -
Berlin Wall
The Berlin wall was built to keep the USA out of eastern berlin. It was also built to stop people from escaping to the capitalist side of berlin. The borders were closed over night so people who left their families to go to the capitalist side couldnt get back to theit families until the wall was taken down. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The cuban missile crisis was event that scared the USA when the leader of the U.S.S.R decided to put nuclear missiles in cuba after the United States put nuclear missiles in turkey. It ended when both USA and USSR took their missiles out of Turkey and Cuba. -
Communist Domino Theory
The Communist Domino theory was a theory that if one country adopts communism that the other countries aroud it will do the same. An example of this was China adopting communism. Commsunism spread throughout China and eventually made its way to vietnam were they adopted communism -
Vietnam War
The vietnam war lasted from 1954-1975. It was fought between the communists vs. the capitalists. The leader of the communists was named Ho Chi MInh, the communists kicked the french out of power i 1954. The end result was communism took over vietnam when the USA withdrew from vietnam.
