    The Potsdam Conference involved President Harry S. Truman-US,Joseph Stalin-Soviet Union,and Winston Churchill-(then Atlee)-U.K.France was not in attendance,tThe Potsdam Conference discussed peace settlements,but no treaty.The Main issue was control of Germany and battle against Japan.The U.S told Soviets about the atom bomb. The effects from the conference was turned Germany into four occupied zones.

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is a political and military alliance between the United States, Canada, and numerous European countries. Established in 1949 as a defense against the Soviet Union and its eastern European allies, NATO changed its membership and its goals following the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. NATO headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium.

The countries involved in the Korean War was North Korea,South Korea,USA,The Soviet Union, and China.After Japan Lost the WWII, They also lost Korea which they controlled. The Soviet Union, controlled the North,and the USA controlled the south.The UN[United Nations] wanted to put the country back together but Soviets refused so in 1948 It was Divided to North And South Korea.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact included the Soviet Union,Albania,Bulgaria,Czechoslovakia,East Germany,Hungary,Poland,and Romania.The Warsaw Pact happened because the Soviet Union wanted to establish a strong defense alliance against any potential military or economic threats from the west.With a rearmed West Germany as a member of NATO.In 1956 there was an uprising in hungary that was quickly put down by the Soviets.

    An international crisis happen when Egyptian President,Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal. The canal had been owned by the Suez canal company,which was controlled by French and British interests. The Suez Crisis was provoked by an american and British decision not to finance Egypt’s construction of the Aswan high dam. Which was a response to Egypt’s growing relationships with Communism and the Soviet Union. Nasser’s response was declaring martial law in the canal zone.

    The Space Race was between the Soviet Union and the USA during the Cold War and it started with the launch of the Sputnik-1, after that successful launch it sent shock to the people of the U.S .D. Eisenhower President of the U.S downplayed the launch and put lots of additional funds into the space program to catch up with the Soviets. The vanguard was the USA’s first launched satellite but it was unsuccessful. The Space Race also continued the Cold War and it made tensions higher.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis involved the U.S JFK,Fidel Castro Cuba,and Nikita Khrushchev Soviets.The U.S discovered the missiles in Cuba from a spy plane.The Kennedy Administration launched a failed attack The Bay of Pigs in 1961.Soviet Ships bound for Cuba Neared The U.S vessels enforcing the blockade.The Soviet leader Nikita sent a letter to the U.S proposing that the U.S.S.R would dismantle its missiles in Cuba if the Americans removed their missiles installed it Turkey.

Communist rebels in South Vietnam had begun fighting Diem’s government.The Communist won at the fall of Saigon on April 30,1955.In 1976 they combined North and South Vietnam into one country.
