  • Potsdam Conference 1

    Potsdam Conference 1
    The Potsdam Conference was where the United States, Britain, and Soviet Union discussed peace settlements not a treaty. The main issue was the control of Germany and the battle against Japan. During the conference the United States told the Soviet Union about the Atomic bomb. This happened because the war was ending and the allies needed a plan.
  • Potsdam Conference 2

    The effects of this was Germany spitting into four occupied zones where allied countries could take reparations from the zones that they occupied. Poland was given a part of Germany. This was the last conference where everyone was able to work together, there was division between the Soviet Union and the United States (Potsdam Conference).
  • NATO

    NATO
    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on April 1949. NATO included almost all the western democracies. Nationalism was during NATO and countries combined their military force. NATO was created to strengthen countries and to enforce Soviet communist ideas. NATO helped spread communism (NATO).

    The Korean War included the United States and China, The United Nations, USSR, and the Soviet Union. War began in 1950. The North Koreans supported by the Soviets attacked southward across the 38th parallel. The Chinese join in with them. The Korean War happened over communism. The United Nations wanted countries back together however, Soviets refused to allow the people in their section to vote on a new government.

    The effects of the Korean War were that it took 1,300,000 South Korean lives, 1,000,000 Chinese lives, 500,000 North Korean lives, and 37,000 American lives. Korea remained divided until the 21st century (Korean War).

    The Warsaw Pact was a treaty signed by the Soviet Union, Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland and Romania. During the Warsaw pact, the presence of the Soviet Union led to a revival of nationalism and expressions of hostility towards the Soviet Union and other countries. The Warsaw pact happened to strengthen the hold of the Soviet Union.

    During 1976 North Vietnam and South Vietnam combined into one Country called Vietnam. North Vietnam won their war in 1975 by 1977 communists had began to rebel. South Vietnam began to fight their government. Then in 1963 members of those armies were murdered piem. The Vietnam war there was split between North and South vietnam, because Vietnam's wanted independence. The South Vietnam army fell apart after the military aid to the South was cut back.

    The egyptian president nationalized the Suez canal that was controlled by French and British interests. This was an international crisis in the middle east. The Suez crisis happened because the nationalization caused a reaction from the United States and Britain because of the decision not to finance Egypt's construction of the Aswan high dam.

    The Aswan high dam was in egypt. The effects of the Suez crisis was the declaration of martial law in the canal zone and seizing control of the Suez canal company. In the end israel did not win freedom to use the canal (Suez Crisis).
  • Hungarian Revolution

    Hungarian Revolution
    this was a popular uprising in Hungary in 1956. The soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev delete bed a speech in which he attacked the proof of Joseph Stallone rule. This happened because people were encouraged by the new freedom of debate and Criticism. This was a rising tide of unrest and consent in Hungary breaking out to an active fight in 1956. The effects of this were that hungry experienced slow evolution toward some internal authority.
  • Space Race / Sputnik

    Space Race / Sputnik
    The Space Race included the USSR, Soviet Union, NASA, and the United States. The Soviet UNion launched the Earth’s first artificial satellite. After launching, it was a shock to so many people. The Space Race occurred because of agreements to have a spacecraft in orbit for satellite use and the development of the ICBM. The effects of the Space Race were it started a race between the United States and Soviet Union on who could do what better (Sputnik).
  • Berlin Wall

    Berlin Wall
    Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev delivered a speech in which he demanded the western powers of the United States , Great Britain and France pull their forces out of West Britain within 6 months. This ultimatum sparked a 3 year crisis by cutting of land access between west Germany and Berlin. This happened because the Berlin Wall was built as a major symbol of communist oppression. After this, the wall was erected. The standoff between the United States and Russia then started (Berlin Wall).
  • Cuban Missile Crisis 1

    The Cuban Missile Crisis included the USSR, Soviet Union, United States, NATO, and Fidel Castro. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, the United States discovered the installation of nuclear armed Soviet missiles in Cuba. On October 22nd, President Kennedy notificated Americans of the Missiles in Cuba. Kennedy made a decision to make it clear that the United States was prepared to use military force if necessary to neutralize the threat.

    It caused a 13 day standoff between the United States and Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis happened because the Soviet Union secretly placed missiles in communist led Cuba. The effects were a peaceful agreement between the two countries, casually avoiding a nuclear war (Cuban Missile Crisis).

    Six Day War 1
    The Six-Day War was the third of the Arab Israeli wars. This war was also called June war or third is really war brief. What happened during the Six-Day War was Israel's victory led to the capture of the Sinai peninsula , Gaza Strip , West Bank , the old city of Jerusalem , and the Golan Heights. The Six-Day War happened because attacks were made against Israel by the fledgling Palestinian Groups based in Syria, Lebbon and Jordan had increased.
  • SIx Day War 2

    The effects of the Six-Day War that's where the conflicts created hundreds of thousands of refugees and brought more than 1 million Palestinians in the occupied territories under Israeli rule (Six day war).
  • Vietnam War 2

    The 2 sides fought in a 8 year war. The Vietnam war happened because the North wanted to reunite the country under communism. The effects of the Vietnam war were 1.3 million vietnamese soldiers and about 58,000 United States troops were killed. Many civilians died also. People protested during and after the war and the war Diem killed and imprisoned hundreds of Buddhists (Vietnam War).
  • Glasnost & Perestroika 1

    Glasnost & Perestroika 1
    Glasnost was when Soviet Government was introduced to Perestroika government. During the 1980’s Perestroika started to democratize the Soviet Union, In 1983 the Soviet Government introduced the concept of Perestroika The Glasnost believed that economic recovery of the Soviet required ordinary citizens in the political process.
  • Glasnost & Perestroika 2

    Perestroika has intended it to be a program of moderate and controlled reform that would revitalize the Soviet economy. Glasnost and Perestroika happened to give the media more freedom to publish. The effects of this was the Soviets and Russia were involved (Glasnost & Perestroika).
  • Warsaw Pact 2

    The Soviet Union also wanted to establish a strong defense alliance against any political army. The effects of the Warsaw Pact were that in November 1990, Warsaw pact and NATO leaders declared they were no longer “adversaries”, ending the Cold War. Warsaw Pact's military was disbanded on March 31, 1991 (Warsaw Pact).
