    The conference that divided Germany into four zones. The capital of Germany (Berlin) would also be divided into four zones. Korea was going to be divided into Soviet Union and American zones.

    President Harry Truman decided to help anyone that was in communist takeover. The Truman Doctrine was the beginning of the "domino affect." This was created to stop the spread of communism.

    Joseph Stalin died at the age of 74 years old. Joseph Stalin had ran the Soviet Union since 1928. He was shot for treason.

    The Warsaw Pact was formed by East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, and the Soviet Union. This was also known as the treaty of friendship. It was formed to act as a counterbalance to the NATO.

    The Hungarian Revolution started in Hungary in 1956. A speech was given after by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. Nikita Khrushchev attacked Joseph Stalin's rule.
