Yalta and WWII
There was Yalta conference, which it was the meeting of Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt to decide what would happen at the end of the war.
Also in August WWII comes to an end after U.S. bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. -
Truman
President Truman promised to help any country who was facing communism. By this date communism had power in Alabnia and Poland. -
Berlin Airlift
Those living in Western Berlin had no access to food so the only food they would have was from U.S. and UK airplanes. It ended in May 1949 -
NATO formed
It was a North Atlantic Treaty Organization formed with memebers states Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States. On August, the Soviet Union explodes its first atomic bomb. and October, communists win the Chinese civil war. -
Korean War
The Korean War begins, when North Korea attacks South Korea. The U.S. and others U.N members fight North Korea forces also. The Korean wars ends in 1953. North Korea stays with Russia while South Korea stays affiliated with U.S. -
Warsaw Pact
Warsaw pact was formed by the states East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, and the Soviet Union. -
Hungarian Revolution
It all began as a protest against Communism rules. At first a new government was made and introduced democracy and freedom of speech and religion. However, the Societ Union tanks returned on Nov and declare war on them. Hungary lost. -
Fidel Castro
He becomes president and installs a Communist government. I only know it was in Feb the date is incorrect though, it won't let me put just the month. -
Bay of Pigs
Aided by the US, and trained by the CIA, Cuban exiles attempted to invade Cuba and overthrow the Communist government of Fidel Castro. The attempt failed and Fidel won. On Aug 13 the Berlin Wall was built seperating the East and West Germany. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
A plane spy some construction of Soviet nuclear missiles base in Cuba. Kennedy as President demanded the removal of the missiles by a naval blockade. The Russians agreed to remove the missiles but the U.S. could not invade Cuba. -
President Kennedy
Kennedy was assasinated, Lee Oswals was arrested but their has always been speculations he did not work alone and there could have been communist or CIA complicity. -
China
China explodes its first atomic bomb. (do not know exact date just month) -
Vietnam
150,000 troops are send to Vietnam for war. (do not know exact date) -
Soviet invasion of Czecholovakia
Soviet crushes Czech uprising in a bid to stop the reform known as the 'Prague Spring' -
Non- Communist governments
- Over one million Chinese reforms by the Chinese communist countries.
- First post war non- Communist government in Poland.
- Hungary declares a non- Communist country. -Berlin Wall is demolished.
