  • United Nations form

    The United Nations was formed after WW2. It was made up of 51 countries with the goal of maintaining peace and security. United Nations provided aid and protected humans.

  • Hollywood 10

    The Hollywood 10 was made up of 10 people who worked in the film industry. (directors, producers) These members ended up in jail after not participating in anti-communist work. They were associated with communists.

  • Truman Doctrine

    The goal was for nations to resist expanding communism with US giving money to pressured countries

  • Marshall Plan

    The marshall plan gave over 12 billion dollars to help Europe. The goal was also to resist communism and Europe needed the help.

  • Nato formed

    Nato was the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It was formed after WW2. It involved the US, Canada, Europe and many other countries in order to protect against threats from Russia.

  • Korean War

    North Korea invaded South Korea. It was a deadly war and resulted in North and South Korea remains divided. The reason for their conflict was North Korea being democratic and South Korea being communist. It went until 1953.

  • Space Race

    The Space Race was between the US and Russia with the goal to develop the best space technology. This technology would help out their militaries during the Cold War. It went until 1975 when the US successfully reached space.

  • Bay of Pigs

    This was an invasion directed towards the Cuban leader to remove his power. The US government failed as the leader, Castro gained power.

  • US enters Vietnam War

    The US entered the Vietnam War to prevent communism from spreading further into Vietnam and Asia. The US was pushing for the containment of communism as they feared it would spread around the world. The US provided aid to South Vietnam

  • Soviets invade Afghanistan

    This invasion created more conflict between the US and the Soviets. The Soviets wanted to continue spreading communism as they gained complete control of Afghanistan.

  • Berlin Wall goes up

    The Berlin Wall was put up by Germany and showed how communism made the world lack freedom. Germany did not want its population to go from East to West Berlin because it was controlled by the communist Soviets.

  • Berlin Wall comes down

    The wall came down as part of the end of the Cold War. Germany wanted the wall torn down. Germany was finally unifying again.
