The creation of "The Iron Curtain"
The Iron Curtain was both an ideological border created by Winston Churchill that separated communist countries in the Soviet Bloc such as, Bulgaria, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Romania, and countries in Western Europe. -
The Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was created by Harry S. Truman who was president of the U.S at the time. It was a document that said they would come to the aid of people in a democratic countries who were being threatened bt any non democratic force from inside or outside. -
Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was a plan created the U.S government to help rebuild Europe. The plane helped Europe recover quickly and it help preserve political stability. -
NATO
NATO was designed to counter Soviet power in Europe.
It was signed by the U.S, Canada,and most western european countries. -
Korean War
The Korean War happened after Japan surrendered and the Soviet Union and the U.S decided to temporarily divide Korea in half. The north Koreans attaced South Korea in order to unite the country under a communist government. -
The Bay of Pigs
The Bay of Pigs was an attack on Fidel Castro and his communist regime. It was a failed invasion however when Castro's men met the Cuban exiles at the shore and opened fired at them, sinking ships, and destroyed half of their air support. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
It all started after an U-2-spy plane discovered Cuban missles with Soviet nuclear tips on them. John F. Kennedy didn't want to attack right away instead he created an agreement with the Soviet Union saying that if Soviet Union withdrew their missiles the US would not invade Cuba, and if they didn't accept it in 24 hours they were going to attack. -
Gulf of Tonkin Incident
The US was attacked 2 times by North Korean ships, Although lots of people deny there being a second attack. It started when they got shot at from a couple miles out and then led up to troops on the ground and more on their way. -
The end of the Vietnam war
Part of what helped the war end was an agreement between the U.S and North Vietnam cretated agreement sayin that after 24 hours of the agreement nobody could attack South Vietnam, both sets of troops would leave South Vietnam no later then 60 days, U.S prisoners would be released and councils from all over are going to talk about the future of the South. -
The falling of the Berlin wall
Yje Berlin wall was a barried that divided that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.The wall separated East and West Germany it was put up, because East Germany residents were going to the West since it was democratic and the East was a communist government,
