  • United Nations formed

    The United Nations was formed when US President Franklin and Soviet Stalin discussed to idea to "ensure" that there was international peace and security.
  • Truman Doctrine

    A program to encourage nations to resist communist communist expansion
  • Hollywood 10

    The Hollywood 10 was a group of 10 movie producing men who were accused of, and given a year in jail for allegedly possibly being members of the Communist Party.They also refused the answer questions asked but the HUAC on whether theses accusations were true or not.
  • Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan is the Economic Recovery Act renamed. President Truman signed it on April 3rd, 1948. It was a post war economic aid.
  • Nato Formed

    NATO was formed to encourage peace between the european countries. Also to ensure their freedom and rights.

  • Korean War

    The Korean War went on for a little over 3 years and was caused by North Korea attacking South Korea because the USSR had commanded them to do so to spread communism to South Korea
  • Space Race/Sputnik

    A competition between the US and the USSR to be the first country in space and develop space related aircrafts and objects. The USSR launched Sputnik 1, a basketball sized satellite boosting them to lead in the space race and creating the first man-made object to orbit in space. However on July 20th 1969 the Space Race ended when Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon.
  • Bay of Pigs

    Bay of Pigs was a failed military landing in Bahía de Cochinos (Bay of Pigs), Cuba. It was an attempt to push Fidel Castro from power. It ended up making him more powerful. The American soldiers were outnumbered and surrendered in less than 24 hours.
  • Berlin Wall Put Up

    To stop the Germans from the West going to the East for a better life, the East German government put up a wall.
  • U.S. Officially Entered The Vietnam War

    The US entered the Vietnam War because they were afraid that communism would take over there, then the rest of Asia too. So they joined instead. People still argue if the US won the war or not but they won all the battles against the communist parties. The US left the war on March 29th, 1973. The War officially ended on April 30th, 1975.
  • Soviets Invade Afghanistan

    The Soviets invaded Afghanistan to support their soviet Government and in hopes it would stop the US from using Afghanistan to invade Russia.
  • Berlin Wall Fall

    On the night of November 9th, the german citizens started destroying the Berlin wall 1989. After 30 years the head of the East German Communist Party had finally announced that the German citizens could now come and go as they please.
