    Announcing a joint session of Congress, Truman asked for $400 million in military and economic assistance for Greece and Turkey. President Truman declared, "It must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures."

    The Soviet Union had blocked off the rail roads and water access so they couldn't get food nor fuel so the Untied States airlifted all the needs and necessity items.

    The Eisenhower Doctrine was a policy within a "Special Message to the Congress on the Situation in the Middle East" a middle eastern country could request American economic aid from U.S. military forces, this Doctrine almost completely wiped out the Soviet threat by letting the U.S. forces "to secure and protect the territorial integrity and political independence of such nations".

    Once Eisenhower became president he decided to sign the Korean Armistice Agreement which ended the fighting as well as South Korea gained a bit of territory northeast of the 38th parallel, and prisoners were exchanged
