Confrontation between the U.S and the Soviet Union over the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba. After 2 weeks, Soviet leaders removed the missiles when the U.S agreed to remove U,S missiles from Turkey and promised not to attack Cuba. -

The war lasted over nine years. Insurgent groups fought against the Soviet and allied Afghan forces. -
Berlins Wall Fall
East Berlin people were not able to cross to the west but Berlin's communist party announced a change to it's city. Citizens of the GDR were free to cross the county's borders.
