  • Ho Chi Minh

    Communist leader for North Vietnam, used Geurilla warfare to fight any anti-communist. American-funded attacks were under the Truman Doctrine and had an amazing strategy that drew out war and made it unwinnable.
  • Korean War

    North Korea, Soviet Union, South Korea, and the United States were apart in this, when North Korean Communist army crossed the 38th Parallel and had invaded South Korea (a non-communist country.) Because of this the peninsula remained divided into two nations. The Korean War helped America in both good and bad ways, but mainly good. It helped improve the U.S. and Japan’s economy.
  • Vietnam War

    The U.S., China, Viet Cong, South Vietnam, North Korea, South Korea, North Vietnam and more countries were involved in the Vietnam War. North Vietnamese army had massacred thousands of South Vietnamese after the Americans had left. The affects were it had ended the draft, 18-year-olds were granted the right to vote, they had banded together military families, for war it was harder getting out than getting in, and there was the rise of China and toll of Watergate.

    The USSR had launched the Sputnik 1 in October 4 and the U.S. launched the Explore 1, which was the first American satellite to reach orbit. They wanted to see who could make it into space and do things before the other country could. This involved the USSR and the United States. Because of this, the following inventions were made: Computer Microchip, Cordless Tools, Satellite Television, Smoke Detector, Shoe insoles and invisible braces.
  • Tet Offensive

    North Vietnamese, communist Viet Cong, and the U.S. were involved. 70,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces had attacked in a coordinated series of fierce attacks on more than 100 cities/towns in South Vietnam. This resulted in a lot of new refugees. It had an affect the course of the Vietnam War.
  • Kent State

    Kent State
    Students were protesting about the bombings of Cambodia by the U.S. military forces, the students had clashed with Ohio National Guardsmen on Kent State campus. The Guardsmen shot and killed for students. This had become the focal point of the nation that was deeply divided by the Vietnam War. Kent State was closed because of the shooting and where was a massive lack of communication in the area.
  • Iran Hostage Crisis

    U.S. military and Iranian were involved, an angry mob of some 300 to 500 "students" who called themselves "Imam's Disciples," laid siege to the American Embassy in Teheran, Iran, to capture and hold hostage 66 U.S. citizens and diplomats. The affects still casts pall on U.S.-Iran relations.
  • Iran Contra

    Iran Contra
    Shiite and Regan were involved, Shiite took American hostages to Lebanon. This start as an internal U.S. confrontation between Ronald Reagan and the Democratic Congress. Any Tran Contra vets were not to be trusted and most officials went on to prosperous careers with some becoming a part of the “squad” that has landed the U.S. into the hellish mess in Iraq.
  • Gulf War

    Conflict started because Iraq's leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered an invasion of Kuwait. The main leaders were United States, Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudiarabia. The outcome was resulted in a war between the countries. The Gulf War had left damage to natural resources.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    We were attacked by al-Qaeda and was masterminded by Osama Bin Laden. There were four planes hijacked, but only three hit their targets. It was mainly because of US involvement in the Middle East mainly around Bin Laden’s home country of Saudi Arabia and our relations with Israel. We became less dependent on foreign fuel and rise (and fall) in U.S. fervor for military action.
  • War in Afghanistan

    War in Afghanistan
    The U.S., Afghanistan, Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Turkey, Germany and other countries were a part of the war in Afghanistan. In October 2001, the U.S. started bombing Afghanistan, the united States were targeting Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda fighters and they were also targeting Taliban. There have been over 26,000 civilian deaths, 29,900 civilians have been wounded. There are 91,000 Afghans recorded to have been killed, this includes civilians, soldiers and militants, this had took a toll on the U.S. economy
  • Iraq War

    Began with the invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition and the invasion had regime toppled the government Saddam Hussein. The United States, Iraq, Turkey and other countries were involved. There was enormous loss of lives, destruction of Iraqi society and economy, and America’s loss of respect.
