What effectively started the Cold War, it was a race between the Soviet Union and the United States to see who can have the best military artillery. Truman Doctrine
Greece and Turkey in dancer of falling to communist insurgents, Truman requested $400 million from Congress in aid to both countries which turned out to be successful. This event was economical because of all the money that was spent that went towards countries that could become communist. Berlin Airlift
A blockade of Berlin, U.S. airlift 1.5 million tons of supplies to the West side of Berlin. After 200,000 flights USSR lifts the blockade. Cultural is seen through this event because Germany was split into sections and the people living there didn't have a say in what was happening around them. Marshall Plan
George Marshall proposed a massive aid program to rebuild Europe from the ravages of World War 2. Nearly $13 million in U.S. aid was sent to Europe from 1948 through 1952. Soviet Union and Eastern Europe would decline the aid. The Soviet Union is declining the help that the U.S. is spending millions on is economical. Soviet Unions response to the Marshall Plan. Korean War
North Koreans hoped to unite South Korea into a communist nation. The United Sates came to the aid of South Korea, Communist China and the USSR gave aid to the North. This is Psychological because this war affected so many people in many different ways, it changed the lives of many and many ended up being killed. Fidel Castro overthrew a corrupt government, Castro took government control over all major industries and installed a totalitarian communist regime with the support of the USSR. Bay of Pigs Invasion
The United States supported and trained 1,000+ Cuban exiles to overthrow communist Castro government, this invasion failed and the US. cut off all ties with Cuba. This event could be geographical because when US and Cuba cut off all ties from one-another, there was no traveling to Cuba from US because of the trust we broke during Bay of Pigs. First Man in Space
Yuri Gagarin was sent to space by the USSR and became the first man in space to orbit the world.This caused tensions with the U.S. and NASA decided to send Alan Shepard into space and he was the first American up there, though he did not orbit the world. Cuban Missile Crisis
USSR sent nuclear missiles into Cuba, US blockaded the island of Cuba October 1962, John F. Kennedy demanded that they be removed or there will be war.Khrushchev removed the missiles from Cuba and there was no nuclear war. United States sent the first man onto the moon and would prove to the Soviet Union who is the most technologically advanced. The Soviet Union beat the United States 51-50, in the gold medal game at the 1972 Summer Olympic Games. The U.S. lost at the last second because of a call that the referee made.
