    The Marshall Plan help fund Europe's economic recovery. It was also called the European Recovery Program. According to www.history.com, " It successfully sparked economic recovery and its objective of restoring confidence in the economic future of Europe as a whole." The U.S. was able to aid countries in their financial rebuilding.
  • The Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift
    One day the Russians closed down all way to get around from Germany to Berlin. They deciced to do this because they believed that this woulkd not allow people to get the things they need. As states by www.history.com " This effort, known as the “Berlin Airlift,” lasted for more than a year and carried more than 2.3 million tons of cargo into West Berlin." Because of no way to get the necessities via the air they got it to them by airplanes.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    The Warsaw Pact had multiple countries involved in it such as the Soviet Union, Poland, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia.The purpose of the pact was that if any outside countries or enemys tried to attack a country that any other country in the pact would have each others backs. The pact ended in 1991

    The Vietnam War was a very time consuming event that ended up costing alot of money for most of the parties involved. According to www.history.com "By November 1967, the number of American troops in Vietnam was approaching 500,000, and U.S. casualties had rehed 15,058 killed and 109,527 wounded." In 1973 North Korea and the U.S. had a peace argeement,so that there would be no more hostitly between the two.
  • U-2 Incident

    U-2 Incident
    In 1960 the USSR took down an American U-2 spy plane in their air space and ened up capturing the pilot. They ended up givng him 10 years in prison and charged him on espionage. According to www.history,com "On May 5, Khrushchev announced that the Soviet military had brought down an American spy plane, but he made no mention of capturing Powers." It was later found out that the plane was a spy plane.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    Bay of Pigs Invasion
    In April 1961, the CIA started a invasion of the Bay of Pigs in Cuba. However even before the invasion started Cuba knew of the plan,so they were able to prepare for what would come. According to www.history.com "the exiles surrendered after less than a day of fighting; 114 were killed and over 1,100 were taken prisoner. Later during the Cuban Missile Crisis conflicts would come up again between the U,S. and Cuba.

    Berlin Wall
    The Berlin Wall began being constructed on August 13th 1961.The basic reason it was being built was to have a divider between East Germany and West Germany. When it was finally anounced that people could cross the wall,hoards of people began to flood the streets trying to cross. Germany ended up being spilt into different areas.The east side went to the Soviet Union, and the west side went to the United States,Great Britain,and France. The wall eventually fell on Novemeber 9th 1989.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a very big almost 2 week political argument between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. John Kennedy ancounced that they had missiles in their possession,everyone was scared and they thought war was going to happen.Throughout the entire process they communicated back and forth trying to figure out how to end this. They eventually came to argeement if the U.S. removed their missiles from Turkey,then the USSR would remove their missiles from Cuba.

    In November 1989, the Berlin wall finally came to an end.A year later the official end between East and West Germany was finalized. Millions of people from East Berlin came to West Berlin to celebrate the achivement with them.People even brought picks and hammers and started to chip away at the wall.

    The most popular reasons for the fall of the Soviet Union is said to be because of the amount of reforms that had been put in place.The life span lasted almost 75 years.According to www.history.com"Gorbachev believed that a better Soviet economy depended on better relationships with the rest of the world,especially the United States."Some states started to brake away from Moscow,which then in turn led to other Countries and republics leaving the Soviet Union and creating their own organization.
