A program that US president Truman created in order to prevent more countries from becoming communist by paying them large amounts of money to stay democratic as well as promising them to help them if faced with Soviet conflict. -

The Hollywood 10 was an event that happened during the Red Scare where 10 Hollywood film workers were accused of communist actions, these ten people then refused to appear before the court and talk about the accusations. -

After WWII, the US were worried about more countries turning communist so they devised the Marshall Plan to give over $12 billion dollars to Western Europe to Prevent them from turning communist. -

The Korean war was a conflict brewing after WWII when the US defeated Japan which had occupied Korea, the Soviet Union took north Korea and The US took South Korea, tensions caused by political differences between the two eventually sparked the conflict, then war. -

The Space race was a race or competition between the US and the USSR for the first to be in space. The Sputnik was the first artificial satellite to orbit the earth, it was made by the USSR and was about the size of a ball. -

Berlin Wall goes up
Germany at the time, after WWII, was divided into Eastern and western Germany, east was controlled by the Soviet Union and the west was controlled by the allies/US. The communist East was angry that people were leaving for the free west and didn’t want any western germans coming to the east, so they built a wall overnight to separate the two parts. -
