Joe McCarthy's Career in the Senate
Joe McCarthy was elected the state Senate in 1946. During his time, he claimed that 205 communists infiltrated the US State Department. He was reelected in 1950 to become the chairman of the sub-committee. Known as the Red Scare, he then investigated various government departments and questioned numerous witnesses. Korean War
It began at the 38th parallel when 75,000 soldiers who were part of the North Korean People's Army invaded South Korea. The South was backed up by the US and North is backed up with the Soviet Union. First Hydrogen Bombs Detonated

The Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower
Eisenhower has done many great things during his time as presidency. He ceased the Korean war by persuading Americans to accept the peace that was negotiated. He was able to help keep America at peace by remaining calm and rational. He balanced a budget and raise defense spending as well as refusing to cut taxes. The Murder of Emmett Till
Emmett Till was a 14 year old boy who was murdered for saying, "Hey baby" to a white woman who was of the age 21. The murderers who were confirmed by an eyewitness, were put on trail for Emmett Tills murder. The verdict was "not guilty". This was an "early impetus" to the African-American civil rights movement.

Rosa Parks / Montgomery Bus Boycott
Rosa Parks was an African American woman who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white woman. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was then sparked years after what happened. It was a 13 month mass protest, which was later taken to the US Supreme Court, where the ruling of the segregation on buses was decided as unconstitutional. The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine African Americans who went to a Caucasian school in Little Rock, AK, called Central High School, but were declined entry by the governor named Orval Faubus, and not long after, Eisenhower escorted them into the school. The Sputnik 1 was the first successful artificial satellite launched by the Soviets in Baikonur, Kazakhstan during the time of the Space Race. Birmingham Church Bombing
The Birmingham church bombing was committed by a white supremacist who exploded a bomb right before a Sunday morning service at a Baptist church. The service served for civil rights leaders where the black congregation would meet up. Many people were injured and four colored girls were killed.
