The leader of the soviet union, Joseph Stalin died in 1953. He was succeeded by Nikita Khrushchev. -

The U.S. pledged their support of South Vietnam and the anti-communists. This was soon followed by military assistance. -

The Berlin Wall was buit to divide East and West Germany. It stood for almost thirty years. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
This was the start of a thirteen day political and military standoff between The United States and the Soviet Union. It began because of the presence of Soviet missiles on Cuba. -
The Fall Of The Berlin Wall
For years the Berlin Wall kept the people of East and West Berlin apart. Then on November ninth the Soviet Union opened the gates. Almost immediately the people of Berlin started tearing down the wall. -
The Soviet Union Collapses
After many separated nations in the Soviet Union declared their independence the soviet union was weakened. By December of 1991 the Soviet government no longer existed and the cold war was over.
