    The Soviet Union blocked off basically all ways into Berlin. this included railroads, canals, and roadways. The Berlin Blockade was one of the first major​ events to occur in the Cold War.

    NATO stands for The North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The military alliance NATO is an​ alliance between 29 European and North American countries. It was founded on April 4th, 1949.
  • Death of Stalin

    Stalin's cause of death was Cerebral Hemorrhage. He died on March 5th, 1953 in Kuntsevo Dacha. Staling was the former General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
  • Space Race

    The Space Race was basically a competition between the United States and the Soviet Union During the Cold War. This competition was over which country was more advanced in space technology. The Space Race lasted from 1957 to 1975.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik was the first satellite that was launched by the Soviet Union. Before the batteries​ died, it was in orbit for about 3 weeks. It stayed in orbit for about 2 months after and then fell back into the atmosphere.

    A US plane was shot down by the Soviet Air Defence Forces. the plane crashed around Sverdlovsk. The pilot of the Us plane was said to be Francis Gary Powers.
  • Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall was 11ft. tall. It was made of concrete and it physically divided Berlin. The Berlin was destroyed November 9th, 1989, and it was destroyed by demolition.

    The Cuban Missle Crisis was a sort of feud between the Soviet Union and the United States. It lasted for 13 days. Both countries would go back and forth dropping missiles on each other's territories. During this, John F. Kennedy was the President of the United States.

    The Iranian hostage crisis was a political standoff between the United States and Iran. During this standoff, 52 American people and citizens​ were held captive. They were held hostage for 444 days, from November 4th, 1979, to January 20th, 1981.

    The end of the Soviet Union was the end of the Cold War. It allowed the republics of the Soviet Union to have self-governing independence. The day the Soviet Union ended was December 26th, 1991.
