    This was made to try and maintain some peace among the nations & was also an attempt to try and have more cooperation between nations.
  • Truman doctrine

    the principle that the US should give support to countries or peoples threatened by Soviet forces or Communist insurrection.
  • Hollywood 10

    a group of 10 film industry members that refused to testify to an anti-communist committee hearing during the Second Red Scare era
  • Marshall plan

    this plan would add economic assistance to rebuild the economic infrastructure.
  • Nato formed

    North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations to provide collective security against the Soviet Union.
  • Korean war

    It was a war between South Korea and North Korea within a span of 3 years. The war started because north Korea invaded South Korea.
  • Space race

    It was a competition between two Cold War rivals, the United States and the Soviet Union, to achieve superior spaceflight capability.
  • U.S. official enters Vietnam War

    This marks the official beginning of American involvement in the war as recognized by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
  • Bay of pigs

    The Bay of Pigs Invasion was a failed military landing operation on the southwestern coast of Cuba in 1961 by Cuban exiles, and financed by the U.S.
  • Berlin Wall goes up

    This is when Berlin had a wall put up that separated west and east Berlin. It was put up by GDR.
  • Soviets invade Afghanistan

    A war between Afghanistan and the Soviets was started by the soviets invading their land. Lots of conflict between the Afghan mujahideen and the soviet soldiers.
  • Berlin wall falls

    This marks the day that the first chunk of the wall falls, and started to be taken down permanently.
