The Bay of Pigs was a failed attack by the United States on Cuba. On January 1, 1959 a man by the name of Fidel Castro drove his guerilla army into Havana and overthrew the American-backed president, Fulgenco Batista. This enraged the United States and caused them to get involved heavily. The CIA was planning an attack on Cuba to attempt to push Fidel Castro out of power.
