This was the investigating disloyalty and communism. This led to the Hollywood Ten, where famous people refuse to testify. Blacklisting was also resulted. Due to all of this all the lies where separated to help the government with picking out spies among them. -
G.I. Bill
The G.I. Bill was all about giving Veterans' benefits. So this was helping give those who fought so bravely in the Cold War have a life after war with a comfortable wage coming in. -
National Security Act of 1947
This was when the departments of Defense, CIA, and NSC was created to advise the President. Due to the help of his advisers there was a security for the Cold War. -
Berlin Airlift
This was where the US continued to send supplies to their part of Berlin instead of backing down. If we did not continued to help our part of Berlin then the Soviet Union would have took over the control. -
Brinkmanship
While trying to push the enemy to the verge of war the US hoped that the Soviet Union would back down. Instead this lead to the Hydrogen Bomb and the Arm's Race. -
Interstate Highway System
This was created to connect the nation for defense. Due to the new road it became easier to defend certain parts of the country and it became quicker to transport supplies to much needed areas for defense. -
Eisenhower Doctrine
This is where the US was defending countries against communism. This kept the US from being in a huge fight between everyone due to the whole not doing anything for anyone. -
Sputnik
This was the first satellite that orbited the Earth. Due to this and the fear and worry it caused, the US decided that it would be a great idea to focus the children's education of math and science. -
U-2 Incident
The U-2 Incident was the spy plane that was shot down over the Soviet Union. Due to the discovery of this spy plane the Paris Summit that was suppose to be reducing of arms was cancelled. This caused more tension between the US and the Soviet Union. -
Bay of Pigs
The Bay of Pigs was the overthrow of Castro which was an ultimate failure. The US was embarrassed and decided to use military aid to help Cubans to exiles. This also pushed Cuba to the Soviet Union. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
Soviet Union started the crisis by placing weapons in Cuba. In response JFK demands the removal of the weapons. The US also blocks Cuba which makes USSR back down. They only back down due to the brick of war that almost happened during the Cold War. -
Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty
This is where there is no testing allowed for nuclear bombs above ground. Due to this being put in place, it makes the air and surrounding areas safe for everyone.
