Formation of the United Nations
The charter was signed on June, 26, 1945. This was basically signed because it wanted to prevent war in the future. It also wanted to give people more freedom that they need. -
Potsdom Conference
This conference happened to end World War II. Germany had gave up on May, 8, 1945. They went to continue the rest of the conference. -
Iron Curtain descends on Europe
The Iron Curtain was the symbol separating Europe into two parts from the end of World War II; it was showing efforts of the Soviets. -
Truman Doctrine
Harry S. Truman gave a speech saying that they were going to support Greece and Turkey so they wouldn't end up under the Soviets power. -
Marshall Plan
June, 5, 1947, was the day the "Marshall Plan" became known. Europe had nothing to sell, the Democratic Socialist Government and we're not cooperating. George C. Marshall wanted something to be done for humans and also the spread of communism. Europe got offered to recieve 20,000 and they were trying to plan how to use the money they were going to receive. When they had introduced the "Marshall Plan" to Stalin he refused and said it was trick. Without the United Startes there would be no peace. -
Creation of Israel
Where the Hebrew language was created. Israel was a place created for mainly Jews. Jews were known as a minority every in every other state. -
Berlin Air Lift
The Berlin Air Lift had began because the Soviets made a blockage, which cause the US to supply for food, water and medicine. The US had kept citizens stable for a year. The Soviers had made the blockage because American and British officials wouldnt allow Germany more say in the economic future. -
Korean War
When the Korean War had start it was feared that it was the start to communism. The North Korean army was well trained and disciplined. When the war took place it was the most hottest summer. Disease and illnesses were very common do to the soldiers that had to water that had some human waste. 5 million people died during this war. -
Stalin Dies
Stalin was a dictator for the union of Soviets for 24 years. When Stalin was younger he was involved in criminal activites. Stalin died from a massive heart attack. -
Warsaw Pact formed
The Warsaw Pact was putting the Soviets in charge of armed forces and members of the state. It was also signed by if one nation got attacked that they would have other help. -
Suez Crisis
Britain had control over the Suez Canal. When the British were going over seas they cahnged everything up and took away a lot of the Sea Journey. When the British had entered Europe the Egyptians didn't like it, they felt like they were good enough gfor their country when the British entered. -
Sputnik I & Sputnik II
Sputniks are what the Soviets and US had call the satellites they had used to orbit around the Earth. When the Soviets had succedded the Americans feared it. They tried to build the best satellite they could build. When the Americans had created the satellite it had created the "space race." -
NASA is formed
The Soviet Unions had made the first satellite to orbit around the Earth. The United States wanted to basically keep up with the Soviets by make a satellite. The US failed when their satellite failed and exploded. The US had tried again to make a satellie; it was successful. -
Vietnam War
Vietnam war was the longest war. Vietnam was divided between communist and anti - communist. The United States was basically supporting the South; they had sent some of their military over to the South. In this war there were many Vietnamese people that had lost they're lives. American lives taken were 58,000. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
Cubans were getting trained to go and basically attack, but their attempt had failed. Castro put an attack on the US; he was a concern since he had seized powers in Cuba. People that wanted to attack Castro and his government wanted to overthrow him. Again, it had failed because everything needed had sank. -
Berlin Wall Constructed
Berlin wall was built to block off all access to the West. Started with barbed wire than changed into concrete. The walls kept growing and growing, went up to 15 feet. People started demanded to get access to cross to the west and east; after demandings they had open the walls and let people gain access. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a dangerous conflict between the Soviet Union and United States. The United States tried killing Castro many different times. The United States was really close to a Nuclear war when the Cubans were going to send their missiles on us but the Russians said hold up, If cuba would have shot their missiles then we would have fired back and wiped out Cuba. -
Kennedy is Assassinated
John. F. Kennedy was assassinated as he was driving down on he Plaza in Dallas, Texas. He was shot from a 6th story window. Oswald was expected for the assassination because he has a bizzare mind and actions. Oswald was interested in communism and Castro. Oswald matched the exact guy seen that had killed Kennedy. -
USS Pueblo Incident
North Korean took out their weapons and we're trying to force for surrender. They ended up starting to fire and 3 people were hurt. When the Americans started to react back the Koreans fired more, and more Americans were hurt. Some of the Americans were found and they were in prison. On December, 23, 1968 this crisis was resolved and they came to an agreement. -
Un Resolution 2758
The United Nations Resolution was stating that China was allowed to be involved in 2/3 on votes. -
Nixon visits China
Richard Nixon went to visit China because he wanted peace with Vietnam. North Vietnamese were scared that China and the United States had made a deal behind their backs. North Vietnamese were looking deep into Nixon going to visit China. -
Salt I and Salt II Agreements
In the Salt Agreements there was only 2 argreements. Nixon wanted the President to think that he had done something right, since he had failed for 4 years. -
Paris Peace Accords
The Paris Peace Accords were being signed so that World War I would officially end. Wilson got an offer but he refused to be okay with that offer. President Wilson went on a tour, when he was on those tours he had started to get headaches and he had a stroke; Wilson did recover. -
South Vietnam Falls
When South Vietnam had fell it put an end to World War II. They had to protect themselves well from the North so they wouldn't be attacked. What had been left of the South Vietnam wasn't enough so they had fallen and fell into communist forces. -
Iran Hostage Crisis
The Iran Hostage Crisis started when President Jimmy Carter got expelled because he needed medical care for cancer. He decided to take hostages. He wanted to rise the international profile. He had released hostages 444 days after the Iran Hostage had started; might have cost him his 2nd president term. -
USSR Invades Afghanistan
The Soviet war lasted 9 years. -
Korean Airline Flight 007
Soviets had started to shoot the plane down, killing 269 passengers. There was Soviets waitnig for the flight to come near them. One of the attackers had missed the response and shot at the flight. All of the passengers had died. -
U.S invades Grenada
Ronald Reagan had ordered his army to invade Grenada and to make sure they have good safety. Bishop had got assassinated and got took out of control. They had made a new government and violence escalated. -
U.S & Soviets boycotts of the Olympics
The Soviet Unions backed out of the Olympics in 1984 in Los Angeles; they claimed they would not be ready for attacks or protests. After the Soviets had backed out, basically everyone else was backing out too. -
Chernobyl Disaster
This happened to be the worst nuclear incident. It had killed 32 people and left many other people burned or injured. The engineers with little knowledge on the object kept trying to see what was wrong. Atomic bombs were dropped. Some radiation escaped into the atmoshere and 5,oo people ended up with some type of illness or cancer. -
Iran Contra Affair
The flight captain that was flying the plane had been captured. When the captain was captured he admitted that he was shipping military supplies. There was presidents denying that they had anything to do with the flight crashing. -

Dissolving the Soviet Union
The people that we're involved with the Soviet Union were breaking with the Soviet Union, saying they would no longer be a part of the Soviets. Georgia is the only State the had remained with the Soviets. The Soviet had fallen because the actions that the President was doing. -
Nuclear Non- Proliteration Treaty
The treaty was based upon prevention of nuclear weapons. The treaty was open for all signatures and signings.
