    Dubceks effort to establish communism was celebrated across the country, and the brief period of freedom became known as the Prague Spring. The Soviet Union answered Dubceks reforms with invasion and ended the Prague springs. Following this was the Brezhnev doctrine which said that the Soviet Union had the right to use military force to maintain the strict rule of the communist party in nearby socialists countries.
