    For many Americans, the most enduring symbol of this “Red Scare” was Republican Senator Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin. Senator McCarthy spent almost five years trying in vain to expose communists and other left-wing “loyalty risks” in the U.S. government. It was not until he attacked the Army in 1954 that his actions earned him the censure of the U.S. Senate.

    The Truman Doctrine arose from president Harry S. Truman.
    The Truman Doctrine was invented to contain Soviet geopolitical expansion during The Cold War.
    The Truman Doctrine ended in 1952.

    The Marshall plan was a U.S program providing aid to Western Europe following the devastation of World War II.
    President Harry Truman signed on the Marshall Plan and distributed 16 European nations.
    The Marshall Plan was invented due to the slow progress of Europe's economic development following WWII.

    The Berlin Blockade was one of the first major international crises of the Cold War. During the multinational occupation of post–World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under Western control.

    Soviets built it in order to keep fascists away.

    Soviets sent nuclear missiles to Cuba. The event where the nuclear conflict almost broke out.

    The treaty was to disarm every country to destroy every nuclear weapon in general. Where other countries would feel safer than ever.
  • Perestroika and Glasnost

    Perestroika and Glasnost
    Perestroika was trying to reform a movement within the Communist party. He independently made market-like deals with ministries. His speech and his idea ended the Cold War in 1991.
