    Germany surrenders to the Russian military. This surrender was a great accomplishment. Europe calls it V day and they celebrate it like America celebrates July 4th.

    The Potsdam Conference between Joseph Stalin,Winston Churchill, and Harry Truman. They discussed that Germany's capital Berlin should be divided into 4 zones. They also discussed that Korea should be divided into Soviet and American zones.

    America was in the making of a Atomic Bomb and when they tested it in Mexico, Germany was already defeated. They heard some advisers would invade Japan and that would result with a lot American casualties. So we dropped a Atomic bomb on Hiroshima because we thought it would be a speedy stop to the end of World War II and three days later that dropped another Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki and some people think that is what caused the start of the cold war.

    This day was a very well deserved accomplishment to America. Japan surrendered and this surrender ended WWII. Japan actually surrendered on board the U.S.S. Missouri and it was anchored in Tokyo Bay. VJ day means "Victory over Japan".

    President Truman said he will help any country that is facing a communist take over. He asked the U.S. assistance for Greece and Turkey. He wanted to help the countries defend themselves from the domination from the Communists.

    Joseph Stalin died at age 74. He died from a massive heart attack on March 5th. He was a mass murderer because he killed 8 million to 20 million of his own people.

    This was a race between USA and the USSR and they wanted to see who could be the first ones to reach space. The USSR later made the Sputnik II. Inside of the ship was a dog and they sent the Sputnik into space and the USSR was the first ones to have a living thing go to space.
