Truman Doctrine
President Harry Truman urges a joint session of Congress to support his doctrine, which calls for U.S. financial and military aid to Greece and Turkey to postpone the spread of communism to the two nations. This doctrine sends 4 million in aid. -

China Becomes Communist
The communists under mau Zedong led the struggle in the north. the Nationalists under china's president Chiang Kai-shed fought in the south. During the war the united states sent the Nationalists 3 billion in aid as they opposed communism. The U.S. attempted to play peacemaker between the two groups wile supporting the Nationalists, though the U.S. officials repeatedly failed. Truman refused to commit troops although they did supply aid, although the almost 3 billion in aid wasnt enough. -

Berlin Airlift
In June 1948, the Russians closed all highways, railroads and canals from western-occupied Germany into western-occupied Berlin, U.S. and its allies decided to supply the city from the air, this effort, known as the “Berlin Airlift,” lasted for more than a year and carried more than 2.3 million tons of cargo into West Berlin. -
Fidel castro comes to power in cuba
In 1952, Fidel castro ran for election to the cuban house of representatives. The election never happened because batista seized power that march. Castro responded by planning a popular uprising. in 1958, batista tried to snuff out the uprising with a massive offinsive, but Castro's guerrillas held their ground and launched a counterattack and took controll. -

Cubans who fled cuba when Fidel Castro came to power were trained by America. The CIA launched a full-scale invasion of cuba with these 1,400 American-trained cubans. The invasion did not go well as the invaders were outnumberd by castro's troops and surrenders ater less than 24 hours of fighting. -

In the Summer of 1962 Khrushchev began secretly shipping missiles, plaes and troops to cuba, on october 16 1962 kennedy was told that an american jet had taken pictures of a soviet nuclear base being built in cuba. October 22nd president Jogn F. Kennedy told the nation that soviets had nuclear missiles and four days later raised its readyness level to defcon 2. one day later Black sunday happens as the highest chance of war a day after that khrushchev backes down. -
Fall of the Berlin wall
The Berlin wall stood untill the head of the EAst German Communist Party announced that the citizens of GDR could cross the border whenever they pleased. Crowds swarmed the wall, some crossing the border into west berlin while others sat and chipped away at the wall.
