The United States would give money to countries to resist the spread of Communism. -

The Hollywood 10 included 10 film industry producers that would not testify against Communism. -
Marshall Plan
The United States would give money to countries, especially ones devastated after the war, so that they did not turn to communism in order to rebuild their nation. -
Nato Formed
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is an alliance between 30 countries to protect their freedom and security. -
Korean War
War lasting 3 years between North Korea and South Korea. North Korea supported Communism and South Korea did not so they fought. When the US joined the Korean war, they joined on the side of South Korea. -

The USSR gained the lead in the race with US to put something into space. Sputnik is the first manmade object to orbit the Earth. -
Bay of Pigs
The US invaded Cuba in hopes to overthrow Castro, but it failed and resulted in Cuba and the USSR to become closer. -
Berlin Wall Goes Up
The Berlin Wall was built to seperate West Berlin and East Berlin. This was because East Berlin did not want "Western Fascists" to enter and try to change their way of governing. -

We joined the side of South Korea to help them fight against North Korea because we wanted to stop the spread of Communism. -

The Soviet Union forcefully invaded Afghanistan to try and support the Communist government there that was being attacked. -
Berlin Wall Comes Down
People from East Berlin protested heavily because they were not allowed to leave. Once announced that East Berlin could move freely, a mix of guards and residents tore down the wall.
