After world War II, Germany was split among the victors of the war. In the Soviet section was Berlin which was separated itself into the four sections. The Berlin wall was established to separate the democratic west and socialist west. -
Chinese Communist Revolution
This was the liberation of the Chinese people. They threw a revolution over the communist leaders. The govern became the Republic of China. -
Enactment of Marshall Plan
The United States wanted to help restore Western Europe. It sent economic aid to Western Europe. Over $13 billion was sent for recovery. -
Berlin Blockade and Airlift
The Soviets cut off the Allies ability to transport to their controlled section of Berlin. This was done by cutting off land and sea travel of the Allies. The Allies responded by sending the Airlift, help from planes. -
Korean War
The war between North and South Korea. North Korea invaded the South. The North was with the Soviets and the South was with the Western Powers. -
Overthrow of the Mossadegh Government
It was an Iranian coup d'état. They overthrew the leader. This was in opposition to a monarchy. -

A revolution in Cuba to overthrow Fulgencio Batista. This was lead by Fidel Castro. Fidel Castro became the ruler of Cuba. -
Overthrow of the Guatemalan Government
The United States organized a d'état. The revolution lasted 10 years. The new leader was democratically elected. -
Formation of the Eastern Bloc
The Soviet Union invaded areas in Eastern Europe. These areas were communist controlled. These areas acted as a buffer zone between the communists and the western world. -
Vietnam War
War between North and South Vietnam. The North was Communist run. The South was backed by the United States. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
Cuban exiles lead a revolution against Fidel Castro. This was backed by the United States. It ended up failing. -
Building the Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was constructed to separate democratic West Berlin and communist West Berlin. The wall was cement, but was not the highest. However, it wasn't only a wall, there was an instant tracking system for anyone wo crossed the wall. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The United States learned that the Soviets were building missiles in Cuba. This worried the United States because Cuba is close to the coast. This would have possibly lead to nuclear war, but ended in peace. -
Prague Spring
Czechoslovakia liberalization. The area went under a change in political beliefs. This was in protest to the socialists. -
Soviet War in Afghanistan
The Soviets invaded Afghanistan. It was communists versus democrats. The war was mostly fought in the country side. -
Tiananmen Square Massacre
There was a protest in China against the Communist party. They were not seen well by the government. Armed troops and tanks showed up to stop the protest and thousands of protesters were killed. -
Fall of the Berlin Wall
Five days prior, half a million people gathered at the Berlin Wall to protest. This marked the fall of Communism. People themselves started to take down the wall as fast as possible, not waiting for the government to destroy it. -
Fall of the Soviet Union
People within the Soviet Union began to fall out of step with the communists. The life style was not supportive enough. Eventually they disbanded and the Union fell apart. -
9/11 Attacks
4 suicide attacks by Al-Qaeda. They destroyed the Twin Towers and attacked the pentagon. This increased airport security worldwide.
