    The long teleram was sent by George Kennan, to the Department of State. This was detailing his views on the Soviet Union and the U.S. policy towards the communist state.

    The Novikov Telegram was the Soviet's response to the long telegram. The Soviet ambassador warned that the USA had emerged from World War 2 economically strong and bent on world domination.

    The Soviet Union tried to block Berlin off from the rest of the world. This lead to the US having to resort to flying numerous amounts of resources to Berlin.
