On august 13, 1961 East Germany started to build a barbed wire and concrete wall. It is referred to as ‘’ antifascist bulwark’’ between Eastern and Western Berlin. This on February 21, 1972 visit helped formally normalize the relationship between the Republic of China and the US. This was the first visit a U.S. president visited the PRC.
