    This was a war that was fought between North and South Korea. North Korea invaded South Korea and that's what started the war. An armistice was signed by the President at the time and that ended the war.

    It was the first satellite to successfully orbit around Earth. It was a big part of the space race in the Cold War. It’s job was to test the satellite pressure.
  • Berlin airlift

    Berlin airlift
    Soviet forces blockaded rail, road, and water access to allied-controlled areas of Berlin. The U.S. responded by airlifting food and fuel to Berlin from Allied airbases. The crisis ended when Soviet forces lifted the blockade on land access to western Berlin.

    The North Atlantic Treaty was signed in Washington and that's what started NATO. It was made to protect people from the Soviet Union. The founder of NATO was named Ernest Bevin.

    It used to be known as the Treaty of Friendship. It was a treaty that was made by the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union wanted to have a unified military so that it could be stronger.

    The wall completely cut off West Berlin from East Berlin. It was built to Prevent its population from escaping Soviet-controlled East to West Berlin. The wall was made from barbed wire and concrete block walls.

    There was a nuclear missile site being built by the soviet union in cuba. U.S. had found out about the site. U.S. agreed to Soviet leaders offer to remove the cuban missiles in exchange for U.S. not invading cuba.

    Half a million people gathered in East Berlin in mass protest about the wall dividing East and West Germany. On November 9th the government responded and announced plans to open up designated checkpoints in Berlin. Any East Germans wishing to pass through the Berlin Wall would be free to do so.
