    This doctrine aggravated the USSR because it was the United States giving support to the countries in danger of communism with economic and military aid.
  • Marshall Plan

    This plan put countries in doubt and lead them to believe communism was more promising.which gave the USSR more support during the Cold War and made it more difficult for the US.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    This created tensions between the US and Soviet Union, and showed how serious the United States was about preventing the spreading of communism.
  • NATO

    The United States and western Europe created a collective offense to fight the spreading of communism that the USSR was attempting to spread.
  • Korean War

    This is referred to as the "forgotten war" but the war was a representation of the cold war overall. It showed the divided between communism and anti-communism when the US chose to defend the south against communism as the soviet union and the northern half tried to pressure them into it.
  • Brinkmanship

    The Cold War never broke out in a war but there were many different occasions that fighting almost broke out. With the hydrogen bomb and arm's race are two examples that created even more tensions.
  • Interstate Highway System

    This system developed a quick way for transportation to get from one side of the country to another in case of an attack. This helped to make the people at home to feel safer from possible Soviet Union attacks.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The nations of eastern Europe gathered to support communism which was the main problem in the Cold War. The dispute during the war was between Communist and anti-communist.

    This Doctrine established tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union because the United States decided that they should help to defend countries against communism.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik was a Soviet Union Victory. This raised tensions between the US ans USSR with many other events. Sputnik was a competition between the two countries to prove they were better then one another.
  • U-2 incident

    This incident increased the tensions between the United States and Soviet Union because the Soviet Union shot down and captured an American spy.
  • Bay of Pigs

    Bay of Pigs
    The failed invasion by the United States to overthrow Castro pushed Cuba to the Soviet Union, which increased the soviets determination and power. This event also convinces other countries that falling to communism would be better than fighting against it.
  • Berlin Wall

    The wall developed was a symbolism of communism. It created a divide that also showed the divide between the USSR and US by separating the east and the west in Berlin.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    This was a brink of war between the US and USSR during the Cold War. When the Soviet Union placed their missiles it aggravated the United States.
  • Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

    The treaty put the race between the United States and Soviet Union to the most dangerous weapons to rest. This turned the war around into a more verbal dispute rather than an arms again.
