Cold War

  • Soviet Union Nuclear Weapons Creation

    This was the Soviet Unions response to the United States weaponizing nuclear products such as the nuclear bomb which was used in combat against the Japanese near the end of WW2. This had led to the Soviet Developing their own nuclear weapons to show that they could also make weapons of such high caliber.
  • The Korean War

    This was a war between the North and South Koreans. After WW2 there was hope for the North and South to merge again. But the only issue is that the North was supported by Communism and the South was supported by Capitalism. The North and South had fought but at the end of the war there was no Political changes.
  • Stalin's Death

    This was the death of the leader of the Soviet Union. After that had happened there was almost a stand still in the cold war. He was the leader and had commanded there every move but they were temporarily left without a leader. But then the power was changed to Nikita Khrushchev.
  • The Vietnam War

    This War was the North Vietnamese people against the South Vietnamese people. With the North Being Supported by the Soviet Union and the South being supported by America. This was almost a proxy war but America had sent hoped into the fight and joined the South Vietnamese people in the war. But this was problematic as the North was then supported by the Chinese and Soviet Union Communism regimes so there was a lot more money and weapons supplied to the North.
  • The Space Race

    This event was the race of who could be the first one to launch something/someone into space. The Soviet Union had won this event with the launching of Sputnik 1. This was the first artificial satellite launched into space. This was a flex to show off the engineering capability for each country.
  • The Creation Of The Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall was the separation or the Iron Curtain between the two political influencers. On the East there was the Soviet Union and Communism. Then when you look at the West there was the United States and Capitalism. This was also a separation point for the people living on the East and West side of the wall. Even today you can see that the west side of Berlin is still better developed than the East and that is due to the East side basically being stripped of the resources they had.
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis

    This was one of the closest times the two super powers (America and the Soviet Union) had came to nuclear war. This was due to the moving of some nuclear missiles to Cuba which was an ally of the Soviet Union and is also close to the united states. The American Government had become worried due to that. But the Soviet Union had moved the missiles out of Cuba and that had resolved the issue.
  • The End Of The Cold War

    The Fall Of The Berlin Wall had opened up free election in eastern Europe which had started to oust the communist regime. And eventually put an end to the communist state in Russia. Which was formally known the Soviet Union.
