It was a group of 10 film industry members that didn't testify to an anti-communist committee hearing during the second red scare era. They made a film giving a short speech denouncing Mccarthyism. -
Marshall Plan
This plan was after WWII to help rebuild countries and have good relations with them as well as to stop them from becoming communist because the US didn't like that and it was a high chance after the war when these countries were poor and trying to rebuild. -

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization an intergovernmental military alliance of roughly 30 countries to to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through military and political means. -
Korean War
War between North and South Korea, it started when North Korea invaded South after some border conflicts and some rebellions in the South. The US was worried that the Soviet Union were part of this and the US wanted to keep the South from becoming communist so they interjected. -
Space Race/Sputnik
This was a rivalry between the Soviet Union and the US of who could achieve superior space flight before the other. It had origins kinda like the nuclear arms race to produce more weapons than the other. The Soviet Union got Sputnik-1 into space first and in a way won the race. -
Bay of Pigs
It was a failed invasion/military landing operation on the coast of Cuba by Cuban exiles. Was financed and directed by the US, it was done to try and overthrow Fidel Castro and his communist government. -
Berlin Wall goes up
The wall was put up by East Germany who was communist, they wanted to keep out the "Western Fascists" from entering East Germany and undermining the socialist state. -
US Official enters Vietnam War
The US supported South Korea and the Soviet Union supported North Korea. South was democratic and North was Communist. We sent money, supplies, and some troops to help them. -
Soviets Invade Afghanistan
The Soviets invaded Afghanistan and sent thousands of troops and instantly assumed complete political and military control of Kabul and other large areas of the country. Later a treaty was signed called the Soviet Afghan Friendship treaty, which brought some peace to the area. -
Berlin Wall comes down
The wall was torn down during the peaceful revolution it was a huge thing for everyone and it marked the end of people not being able to cross the borders and go to the other side of Germany, it was caused by pressure from people both East and West Germany and political reform.
