Berlin Airlift
This event was significant due to the way that it made the U.S. look like. It made them look like the international heros. While making Stalin look like a horrible leader. -
Korean War
This was the first war in which The Americans had won the war. -
Sputnik Crisis
This was important and impacted the future as it was the first artificial earth satelite. This then led on to us being able to use phones and call anybody and anyone from anywhere. -
U-2 Incident
In this event it was the one of the only times when a Soviet, or the Soviets did any type of direct physical damage to an American. -
Cuban Missle
This event was importatn due to it being the closest the U.S. has come to direct combat with the Soviets, and almost caused an all out nuclear war. -
Vietnam War
This event was significant because it was the soviets and the U.S. fighting each other without indirectly fighting each other, as they only supplied thier guns equipment etc. -
Non-Profileration Treaty
The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, commonly known as the Non-Proliferation Treaty or NPT. This treaty was important and a major affect especially today in present day as it caused a law that was international and signed by many countries to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons stopping nuclear wars that could of happened by now already. -
Soviet Afghan War
This war caused many Afghans to flee to Iran and Pakistan. This war was also an example of the U.S. indirectly fighting the Soviets. -
Berlin Wall Falls
As tensions were rising and the government and economy was crumbling this casued the borders to open allowing people from Germany to walk freely. This is important today because the wall represented communism and today it is gone showing that communism is decreasing. -
Perestroika and Glasnost
This is very importatn to todays day and age as, this was the most pivitol point, or the end of the cold war which in todays day and age caused us to be able to be free and the war to be over with
