Also known as the Crime Conference. The Yalta Conference was the meeting of FDR, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin to discuss the post-WWII reoganization and reconstruction. The three leaders were atempting to establish an agenda. -

Albania became the world's first European Communist country following World War II. Albanaia remained under Communist rule until 1997. -
Truman Doctrine released
The Truman Doctrine was a policy to stop Soviet Expansion during the Cold War. It promised to stop Communism from spreading around the world as well as promised that the US would aid any nation that was in trouble from Communism. -
Berlin Blockade
First major international crisis of the Cold War. The Soviet Union blocked all access to the Berlin sectors under Allied control. -
NATO established
NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO is an intergovernmental military allience in which its members provide defense if there is an externl attack. -
Warsaw Pact
Military and political alliance formed by the Soviet Union and multiple European countries. The Warsaw Pact was formed in retaliation to NATO. -
Sputnik!
The Soviet Union launched the first man-made satellite. It was launched on October 4th, 1957 at 7:28pm. This ultimately launched the space programs around the world which are still being used today. -
Cuba becomes Communist
Fidel Castro was sworn in as Premier of Cuba on February 16th, 1959. He then installed a Communist government which is still installed today. -
Bay of Pigs
The Bay of Pigs was a failed mission attempt on the USA's part on April 17th, 1961. Under JFK's administration, the US attempted to overthrow Fidel Castro's army but failed and in return almost 1,500 cuban rebels were killed. This sparked outrage at the US in many latin countries. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile crisis was a cnfrontation between the US and the Soviet Union that lasted thirteen days over ballistic missiles that the Svoiet Union had deployed in Cuba. It was the closest it had become to a Nuclear War. -
US and China become relational
After President Richard Nixon visited China in 1972, the US and China established dipolatic relations. To this day, the US still has good relations with China because of Nixon's stance on foreign affairs. -
Mikhail Gorbachev becomes Leader of the Soviet Union
Mikhail Gorbachev became the leader of the Soviet Union on 1985. He helped, alon gwith President Ronald Reagan, end the Cold War. He believed in openess and restructuring and he removed the Communist party from the nation. -
Berlin Wall is torn down
22 months after President Reagan's famous speech, the Berlin Wall was finally torn down which signified the end of the Cold War. -
Bush and Gorbachev agree to the reunification of Germany
SInce the end of the Cold War, Gorbachev and Bush made it a point to reinstate Germany and buikd the country up again by 1994. After WWII, Germnay was broken into 4 different parts and divided up to different nations. With the reunificataion of Germany, Germany would be its own nation again. -
Soviet Union is Abolished
After Boris Yelten was named President of Russia, the Soviet Union dissolved. The highest council of the Soviet Union took a vote and made itself extinct. So the USSR or Soviet Union chose to be abolished.
