This was a meeting from the "Big Three". This Included the American President Harry S. Truman, Prime Minister Winstion Churchill, and Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin. This was to establish an confrence of forigen leaders and arangments for the countries. -
Bombing of Hiroshima
This is what truly ended world war two. When the U.S dropped an atomic bomb on the bussling Japaness town of Hiroshima. Thiss killed over a hundred thousand people in an instant. Even today people are still dying of radioactivity caused by the radiation left over from the explosion. -

Marshall Plan
On April 3, 1948 President Truman signed an act called the Marsahll Plan. This is also known at the Foreign Assistance Act. This act was ment to aid Eroupe. To which America sent over $13 Billion to aid Eroupe. This helped countries that were destroyed during WWII. -

Israel is known as the first Jewish state. It became established after world war two when many of the jewish population flead to the middle east. This was created as a judism escape from judgment and control. -

This was the first of many confortation that would happen during the cold war. During the blockade the USSR stop all traffic coming in and out of berlin, they even closed the only road that could be accesable by the USA. The USA by responded by sending in supplies by air. -

Stalin is known as the ruler who ruled with an iron fist. He was harsh and very paronoid. With all the stress on his body, some wonder why he did'nt die of a heart attack sooner. -

The USA only really did this to gain more controll over oil, They sent the CIA in to disregard the governments. So the USA could eventually set up a government that would help the USA. -
Vietnam War Starts
This war was fought between North Vietnam ,which was supported by communist USSR, and South Vietnam ,which was supported by USA, and many other capitalist nations. It lasted as a whole for 20 years, which ended being the longest war the USA ever got involved with. But only about 9 years of serious fighting from the USA's men and women. North Vietnam did infact win. -
Suez Crisis
This is when theIsraeli armed forces pushed themselves into Egyped. They were later joined by British and French forces. Because of this action, it causes much tension with the United States and the Soviet Union. Eventually in 1957-1958 Israeli, British, and French removed all their troops. -
Sputnik I
Sputnik I was one of the first satillite ever sent into orbit. It was sent into orbit by the Russians. This caused a mass scare in the united states. They thought it was an act of war. This eventually lead to the space race. -

NASA was formed after the Russians lauched "Spudnik" into space. This helped begin the national space race. This was a race between Russia and America to see who was the best at Aro-space. -
Berlin Wall Constructed
After WWII Germany was split into West Berlin and East Germany. East Germany was under communist rule. Alot of the time citizens of East Germany would border cross to West Berlin to escape comunism, or to be with family that the citizens were seperated from. Finally on Augest 12, 1961 East Germany bult the Berlin Wall in order to keep its citizens inside the country. -
Tsar Bomb
This is the one of the most powerful nuclear bombs ever made. It was developed by the USSR as a sort of test of power bomb. The explosion could have be seen from over 620 miles away. The Mushroom Cloud was about 40 miles high, give or take a mile. A shock wave was observed in the air at Dikson settlement which was about 430 miles away; windowpanes were partially broken to distances of 560 miles. The bomb was equivilent to 50 megatons of TNT, which is dasterus. -

It could shoot a 5.56 mm round 500 yards away accurately and was semiautomatic, 3 round brust, or fully automatic . It was also light weight and was easy to carry. The Beatles was a British rock and roll group that became big in England, but eventually came to America. In America they were bigger then ever once they stepped off that plane. The USS Pueblo was captured by the North Koreans. North Koreans accuseed the USS Pueblo of spying. 83 menwere captured. -

This Attack was a huge hit to to South Korean army personal and USA personal. During the attack the Vietnames organized several attacks to happen at the same time. Many military bases were hit hard with larger damage then some. This went on for months. -

Woodstock was an event that was filled with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. It consisted of three days. It took place in Woodstock, New York. Over 100,000 people came to this event. -

This was a big scandle when Nixon tried running for presidency again. Watergate was a big hotel in which the voting count was help. Some people sya that Nixon was messing around with the votes. But he was never jailed. He simply resigned. -

He was the one who overthrew the old shaw of iran. He later became the new one.He was infamous for the helping in the hostage of americans during the 1979 iran revolution. -

Iran revolutionary students stormed a U.S Embassy is Tehran. They took more then 60 hostages. This was the students attempt to end Americas interference with Iran's own affaries. Eventually all the hostages were freed on January 21, 1981. Exactly 444 days after their capture. -
Soviet Red Army Invades Afganistan
They invaded Afghanistan because they need a better position against iraq which sided with USA. This caused another cold war scare omong the U.S and the Soviet Union.It lasted nine years before they withdrew. Crisis was eventually averted. -

And America has a bunch of highschool, college kids who barley know how to play the sport. The reason why it was such a great miracle, was because America and the USSR came played against each other. These reforms were pretty much the down fall of the USSR. The term Perestroika refers to the reconstruction of the political and economic system established by the Communist Party. And Glasnost means transparencey or openness. -

A few days after Christmas day 1991, 11 Soviet republics said they would no longer be a part of the Soviet Union. This was the begging of the fall of the Soviet Union. Instead a Common Wealth of Indiependence was established.
