The Truman Doctrine is Established
President Harry S. Truman wrote this and he did too establish that the United States would provide help to countries that help being, political, economic, and military. -
The Marshall Plan was introduced
President Truman signed the economic plan Recovery act of 1948 which later became known as the Marshall Plan, this plan provided markets for American Goods, created reliable trading partners, and supported the development of stable democratic governments in Western Europe. -
Berlin Airlift
This event happened when Soviet forces blockaded, rail, road, and water access to Allied-controlled areas of Berlin. The United States, and United Kingdom responded by airlifting food and fuel to Berlin from Allied airbases in western Germany. -
Formation of NATO
NATO also known as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created by United States, Canada, and several Western European nations. This provided collective security against the Soviet Union This was the first peacetime military alliance the U.S. entered into outside of the Western Hemisphere. -
Start of Korean war
This war started when the Northern Korean people's army invaded South Korea in a coordinated general attack at the 38th parallel, ( a line of latitude that divides the non-communist Republic and the communist party of North and South Korea). -
End of Korean War
The war ended because President Eisenhower start as the 34th President of the U.S. an armistice (agreement to stop fighting) which resulted in the organized combat operations ending and the Korean Peninsula remained divided by the 38th parallel as it was previously. -
Formation of the Warsaw Pact
Previously known as the 'Treaty of Friendship', Co-Operation and Mutual Assistance, the Warsaw Pact was created immediately after the accession of West Germany to the Alliance. -
Eisenhower Doctrine was Established
This Doctrine was established by Eisenhower himself and was a message to the Middle Eastern Countries that if they need U.S economic and aid assistance that the U.S. Military would help them if that Country is being threatened by armed aggression -
Sputnik Launched into orbit
When the Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik, the worlds first satellite was the size of a beach ball, and was 183 pounds and took about 98 minutes to Orbit the Earth, (on its elliptical path). This was an important event because during this time period the U.S. and the USSR were in a race to see who could accomplish this scientific advancement first. -
U-2 Incident
This incident was caused because a U-2 spy plane was shot down by the Soviet Air Defense forces while also conducting photographic aerial reconnaissance deep inside Soviet territory.
