    It went from June 1928 till May 1949. It was one of the first major crisis of the Cold War. It happened because the Soviet Union tried to force the Western Allied powers to abandon their Post-World War II jurisdictions.

    The airlift happened because the Soviet Union wouldn't let any supplies come in from the ground. So they tried a different route. The Americans called it "Operation Vittles" While British called it "Operation Planefare".
