  • Venona Papers

    Venona Papers
    This event involved the United States and the Soviet Union. U.S. army decoders decrypted Soviet messages, which revealed Soviet plans. The reason we did this was because the U.S. didn't trust Stalin fully, even though they worked together during WW2, so they spyed on him. These papers also helped find spies within the U.S., such as the Rosenberg's.

    Iron Curtain
    This event involved the Soviet Union and Europe. The Soviet's built it to "protect" Europe from conflict and seperate it from the rest of the world. Winston Chrchill also talked about it in a speech he gave.

    This war started right after WW2 and was between the United States and the Soviet Union. They "fought" for supremacy of superpowers, however they didn't really fight directly. This took place in the U.S.A., Russia, and Europe.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    This event involved the United States and Europe. The U.S. gave money to Europe to help them recover from WW2. This happened to Western European countries. The U.S. did this in order to help their Ally and to solidify their friendship/comradery.
  • Berlin Blockade and Airlift

    Berlin Blockade and Airlift
    This event involved the Soviet Union, U.S., and Berlin. The Soviet's created a blockade around Berlin to limit travel from the other Allies. In response to this, the U.S. sent supplies to Berlin through supply drops from planes in order to gain public sympathy for Berlin.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    This event involved North and South Korea, and the United States. North Korean troops invaded South Korea, in which the U.S. assisted South Korea during this time. The reason this happened was because there was a war against forces of international communism.
  • Rosenberg Trial

    Rosenberg Trial
    This event mainly involved Ethel and Julius Rosenburg. They have been tried for selling nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union at the courthouse in the New York Southern District. Since they sold the secrets of how to make the atomic bombwhich the U.S. didn't plan on sharing) they practically caused the Cold War.

    This event involved the Soviet Union. The Soviet's launced their 1st satellite into space, which in turn started the Space Age. This happened at the Tyuratam launch base in the Kazakh Republic. They did this to show their superiorty and to scare the U.S. with this new technology.
  • U2 Spyplane Incident

    U2 Spyplane Incident
    This event involved the Soviet Union and the United States. The Soviet's shot down a U.S. spyplane doing secret flights over the skies above Yekaterinburg, Russia..They knew this was happening as they used new technology to detect the planes. They wanted to scare the U.S. with this, showing that nopthing is safe from the Soviet's.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    Bay of Pigs Invasion
    This event involved Cuba and the United States. Fidel Castro took over Havana, which prompted the U.S. to invade. However, they surrendered in 24 hours, making this the most shortest and embarrassing invasion. Castro invaded because he wanted to get rid of the American influence there.
