Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was meant to give Europe $13 billion dollars. It was used for rebuilding Europe. The United States offered to the East but they refused. -
NATO
The NATO was the The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. There were 28 countries in this and they all consisted of European and North American countries. They all had with others backs and helped with defense. -
Stalin Dies
The former leader of the Soviet Union died when he was 74 years old. Nikita Krushchev took over after the death of Stalin. Stain was a major factor in why the Cold War started. -
Korean War
North Korea had invaded South Korea. To this day no peace treaty has been signed. (Just to be ironic just after, I found that out it was signed the day I'm doing this project :)) -
Space Race
Russia had launched the first space satellite into space. And later through the years it was a competition to get a man into space. But the main mission was to get the first man to the moon. -
Sputnik
Sputnik 1 was the United States first satellite in space. It was made to orbit Earth. It was 58m long and sent radio signals back to Earth for the recorded data. -
U-2 Incident
The U-2 plane was flew by pilot Francis Gary Powers. He was flying a secret spy plane inside of Russia. His purpose was to look at the Russian territory. -
Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was basically put up overnight. It was caused due to people from east Germany going to west Germany. It was heavily guarded and was a large defense mechanism against the Germans. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest to nuclear war and ending the world and the closest its ever been to it. It was the Soviet Unions missiles that were stationed in Cuba. This was also a 13 day stand off. -
Death of President Kennedy
President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX. He was the original thought of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Know as a great leader throughout the Cold War -
Vietnam War
The United States sent 150,000 soldiers to Vietnam. It was a war between the country of Vietnam and the group called the Viet Cong. Unfortunately the United States didn't follow through and we didn't stick through the war. -
End of Cold War
All borders were opened and the Berlin Wall was torn down. The Iron Curtain was no longer in affect. Russia had dissolved its self. -
Jimmy Carter becomes President
Jimmy Carted was the 39th President of the United States. His thoughts were that the U.S would stop doing what Dixon was doing before him. Carter set up a plan to get the American hostages back but his plan failed miserably. -
Fall of Berlin Wall
During WWII President broke down the barrier separating Germany. Many believed this was symbolism for being free even though everyone was under communism. The Berlin Wall was up for 25 years. -
End of Soviet Union
The Soviet Union had stood down as a power. They raised their Hammer and Sickle flag. Boris Yeltsin was left as Russia's leader.
